Oct 14th 2008 In Paris You Are Never Bored!

Arriving in Paris you will probably want to check into your funky Paris hotel first, but the city will draw you out into the streets in short order. Choosing a central hotel may be more expensive than somewhere at the end of the metro line, but being right in the midst of the famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre has a lot going for it. Whatever your budget think carefully about your Paris hotel’s location, it will make a big different to your holiday – especially if you are on a limited budget

Another must-see sight is the Champs Elysees or the Elysian Fields. It is considered as the most beautiful avenue in the whole world which started as a plain field but later on converted into a pathway lined with trees. It runs from the Concorde Square up to the equally famous Arc de Triomphe and became one of the attractions and features of Paris. It is one of the most famous streets in the whole world.

In the middle of some of Paris’s craziest traffic, the Arc de Triomphe is still a must-do attraction. It is a large arc which serves as a roundabout a meeting point of more than twelve avenues in the whole city of Paris. It was built to commemorate Napolean’s victories. The top of the arc serves as a viewing platform that tourists can climb through 284 steps. It is one of the main landmarks of the city.

These landmarks are joined by other attractions that make Paris one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Most visitors will include Sainte Chapelle cathedral and Tuileries Gardens on their itinearary. Still, there are other landmarks that you can visit when you plan a vacation in Paris. These places will make your stay in Paris memorable and will make your sleep in your Paris apartment as peaceful and as dreamy as ever.

Oct 14th 2008 Buckingham Palace A Top Class Tourist Attraction

England is a most wonderful nation in which to spend a vacation. There are a great many tourist attraction|places of interest to visit enough to satisfy all tastes. For example the ancient city of York which is known to have been inhabited since the days of the Roman Empire, Liverpool (which won the title of European City of Culture in 2008), and Torquay (which is widely known as the English Riviera). One of the most interesting, and famous, places to spend some time in is London the capital city of the United Kingdom of Britain

London is an astounding location to visit, either just for a weekend or, possibly for a full vacation. You may be surprised at the number of people who live in Great Britain who have failed to visit London, this is especially surprising when you bear in mind the fact it is most often top of most visitors lists (of most enjoyable attractions they went to).

There are a multitude of things to see and do in London that it is simply not possible to recall them all all in one go. Surprisingly one of the newest attractions in London also happens to be one of the most popular – The London Eye. Another popular attraction nearby to the London Eye is the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. However, one place which must not be missed is Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace is England’s most widely known Royal residence, as it is home to the Queen. The Palace is to be found in the heart of London which makes it a natural focus for tourists. The daily pageant of ‘Changing of the Guard’ is incredibly interesting to see and amazingly English.

Buckingham Palace was originally named Buckingham House. It was originally a large townhouse, constructed in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham. It is actually the townhouse that forms the main core of the palace as we are familiar with today.

Throughout the following 3 quarters of a century Buckingham House was extended with the construction of an additional three wings around a central courtyard. The main architects responsible for these constructions were Edward Blore and John Nash. John Nash was also responsible for the interior design of the monumental staterooms.

The widely known architect Aston Webb was responsible for the building of the principal facade of Buckingham Palace which, in 1912, he re-designed. Webb in association with Sir Thomas Brock (the sculptor) were the winners of a competition to design a memorial to Queen Victoria. This memorial can still be today.

The Queen has various other royal residences other than Buckingham Palace. Annually the Queen spends the Christmas period at Sandringham House in Norfolk. Sandringham House is a private royal residence (owned by the Queen).

A further private residence is Balmoral Castle, found in Royal Aberdeenshire in Scotland. The Queen was in Balmoral Castle when she was informed of the tragic incident involving Diana, Princess of Wales.

If you would like to take a break in the United Kingdom then you might be surprised to be informed that it is possible to find cheap hotels in London without any great effort, on the other hand you may wish to reside in more luxurious accommodation and the fine selection of boutique hotels in London should be more than satisfactory.
