Do Things With Love

One thing to remember is that marriages aren’t jobs and one of the simplest ways to wreck a marriage is by making everything feel like an obligation. It is important to find the give-and-take balance in your relationship but everything should be done willingly and from the heart.

Can you remember back when you were head-over-heels in love and could not get enough of each other? You spoke passionately about marriage and the life you would have together. Nothing mattered more than being joined together in holy matrimony. You would have never thought that a time would arrive when you couldn’t even sleep together in the same bedroom because you are always the one doing the house cleaning and your spouse can’t carry the trash out..

When doing something nice for your partner, it’s because you love them and want nothing but happiness for them. It’s not right to be managing a mental list of all the amazing things you’ve done and all the things that haven’t been done for you. Every relationship takes work, but it needn’t feel like work.

Stop Nagging

We all know what nagging sounds like. Men are guilty of this just as much as women. Wives protest about lengthy working hours, throwing dirty clothes on the floor, the amount of time used up on sports, TV and drinking alcohol or not giving ample time to the family. On the flip side, husbands nag about how much time their wife spends on the telephone or getting ready, and they complain about their nagging wife! A fast way to resolve marriage issues is to simply quit nagging. Realize that nagging will not get anything done.

If there’s something you hate about your partner or their habits, try to determine what the root of your concern. Figure out why this worries you and why they act that way. Could you be at fault in any way? What should you do to aid the situation? What deals are you willing to make? Ask yourself, What can I do to mend this relationship? Be sensible and then approach your partner and hash things out. Constant nagging can cause a rift between you and your partner.

Think Before Speaking

Whenever you are feeling angry or bitter, try to remember that saying spiteful or hurtful things will not repair your marriage problems. It will only worsen the problem. Think before speaking because words, once said aloud, can never be taken back. Will putting down your spouse make you feel better in the long run? Certainly not! There is no reason to say mean things at all.

Nothing’s wrong about wanting to confront your spouse concerning things that are bothersome to you. However, do so after the initial flood of anger and hostility has quieted and you are capable of discussing matters rationally.

Restoring a good relationship is in no way one-sided. For a marriage to be successful, a shared desire to make compromises should be present. No mountain will be too high to climb as long as this loyalty stays true in your heart.

Avoid Verbal Abuse

Be cautious and avoid verbally abusing your spouse. Words tend to be destructive, especially in a marriage. Are you someone who loses his/her temper easily and is prone to lash out at your partner? Then maybe it’s time to change your behavior. Ultimately, the verbal abuse will cause an emotional toll on you and/or your spouse. You might feel that they were “just words” and forget you had even said them but I promise you, your spouse will definitely not.

The person attacked with verbal abuse can be awfully affected making it difficult for him or her to forget. Any type of verbal abuse should be stopped right away if you have relationship problems and want to fix things without divorce.

These are just some of countless examples of what can cause a marriage to tear apart. Besides being hurtful, each behavior is plain disrespectful. If you love your spouse, then why would you like to wound their heart or disrespect them? If you truly wish for a healthy, happy relationship, ask yourself if you doing things similar to the examples above. Is you answered yes to this question, then it’s time to do whatever you can to make changes. Your marriage will thank you!
