Additionally they are quite safe also. If you have to travel for a long distance, then it would be better if you opt for the railways services. The fares are fixed and you don’t get duped. The rails have sleeping coaches so it is helpful especially if you are traveling overnight. Overnight trains from Minsk to Moscow and Kiev are quite good. Warsaw and St. Petersburg are also connected via trains. Flying in Belarus can be an expensive affair. The airports also do not have a good infrastructure ever since the breakdown of former USSR.
Belarus has numerous ATM machines in the main cities. And it is important that you carry cash in your wallet. This is because most of the shopping places do not accept credit cards. So you have to use cash instead. The local currency is Belarusian Ruble and you can find its current price at any of the internet exchange sites. There are many currency exchange counters in Belarus. Here you can easily get your currency exchanged according to the present rates. Many shops and other places accept Euros and dollars. So the Europeans and Americans need not bother!
If you want to eat food at the restaurants then you are in for a pleasant surprise. The prices here are cheaper as compared to the other European nations. You can even find a few canteens and restaurants where food is supplied at real subsidized levels. The quality of food will also be good. The alcohol beverages are also inexpensive. A typical Belarusian cuisine will comprise of cheese and fish. But vegetarianism is prevalent and mushrooms and potatoes are an important part of the diet.
