Belarus formerly called as Belorussia is situated in Eastern Europe with an area of 80,153 sq miles with population around 10 millions. The capital city of Belarus is Minsk and the currency here in use is Belarusian ruble. Majority of people here speak Russian and Belarusian. Christianity prevails in larger extent over the country, however we still can find Jewish and Muslim communities, but in small number. The climatic conditions are cool and you are advised to carry your sweaters and raincoats if you travel there.

If you are really looking for cheaper modes of transportation, public buses and trams are also available. However, they may be very crowded in the morning and evening times which are the peak hours for government offices and schools. Minsk is the capital of Belarus and there one can find a cheap and efficient system of transportation, the metro. The taxis are simply awesome and you can reach your destination, wherever that might be in anything less than $5. The same goes with any other town of Belarus. You should call the taxi at your hotel by requesting the staff instead of going and finding it at the street corner. This is because it is better not to go in a taxi with a stranger especially because there are quite a few rogues who are hunting for gullible foreigners. 

There are suburban trains which go to the nearest towns from the main train station. It is better if you opt for the buses for traveling within Belarus. They are not only cheap but quick too. Additionally they are quite safe also. If you have to travel for a long distance, then it would be better if you opt for the railways services. The fares are fixed and you don’t get duped. The rails have sleeping coaches so it is helpful especially if you are traveling overnight. Overnight trains from Minsk to Moscow and Kiev are quite good. Warsaw and St. Petersburg are also connected via trains. Flying in Belarus can be an expensive affair. The airports also do not have a good infrastructure ever since the breakdown of former USSR.

Belarus has numerous ATM machines in the main cities. And it is important that you carry cash in your wallet. This is because most of the shopping places do not accept credit cards. So you have to use cash instead. The local currency is Belarusian Ruble and you can find its current price at any of the internet exchange sites. There are many currency exchange counters in Belarus. Here you can easily get your currency exchanged according to the present rates. Many shops and other places accept Euros and dollars. So the Europeans and Americans need not bother!

If you want to eat food at the restaurants then you are in for a pleasant surprise. The prices here are cheaper as compared to the other European nations. You can even find a few canteens and restaurants where food is supplied at real subsidized levels. The quality of food will also be good. The alcohol beverages are also inexpensive. A typical Belarusian cuisine will comprise of cheese and fish. But vegetarianism is prevalent and mushrooms and potatoes are an important part of the diet.

Just under 20 miles from the city centre of Belfast in Northern Ireland from Belfast International Airport.

Bus

If travellers wish to go by public transport from the airport to city centre then a number of buses can be boarded from the outside of the airport building.

Airport Express 300 is an express bus which operates from the airport dropping passengers of in the city centre . The express bus can be boarded 4 times an hour in peak times from an allocated bus stop outside the main terminal building. All day with a reduced off peak service and on average the journey time will last around 30 minutes depending on time of day and rush hour traffic. From the arrivals tourist information desk inside the terminal building . Visitors can buy bus tickets on board the airport bus from the driver.

Tourists travelling further a field can catch a bus directly from the airport to Lisburn by using the Ulster bus number 109A and by using Airporter bus service to Londonderry.

Taxi

Visitors wishing to travel by taxi into Belfast City centre can ride themselves or they can share a cab ride using the taxi share scheme on offer from the official fleet of taxis which use the airport. The taxi rank can be found at the exit of the main building on the right hand side after passengers exit the terminal building. A list of taxi costs are on display before passengers exit the airport building passengers can check out prices. Before you start your journey. Double check your cab fare with the driver you know exactly what the charge will be.

Rail

There is no direct rail link from the airport to the city. The closest train station is based in Antrim which is a 6 mile journey by connecting bus from the airport. Londonderry, Lisburn and Belfast from Antrim train station can be reached very easily. For passengers wishing to travel to Dublin A train can be caught from the train station in Belfast city centre.

Road

If you are travelling by car to the airport, please input zip code/post code BT29 4AB into your GPS system. 
There are a number of car parks available at the airport if drivers wish to leave their car at the airport whilst on holiday. Use the directions to the set down zone for passengers being [ dropped off returned ] or collected the airport.

Car Hire

There are a number of car rental firms based at Belfast Airport who have a wide range of car hire available to suit most needs. Please remember and bring along your driving license when renting a car. Van rental companies supplying cars are Hertz, Avis, Sixt, Budget, National to name but a few.
